NAKED WINEMAKING TEAM

PETER STEINFELD
Owner & President Naked Wines, LLC / Head Winemaker

Peter joined the Naked team in 2010 after serendipity introduced him to Dave and Jody Barringer, original founders of Naked Winery. While riding a chairlift at Mt Hood, Peter met Dave, who was looking for a full time winemaker. Growing up in Germany, Peter learned wine-making and distilling at a young age from his German uncle. When he joined Naked, the total case production was 2,000 cases. This has grown to more than 45,000 cases (2018). Although now the President of Naked Winery, Peter still spends time working with other Naked winemakers Alaina Waller and Tracy Thompson to ensure quality and consistency are maintained in each new vintage.

ALAINA WALLER
Winemaker /"Girl in Charge"

Growing up on her family’s Hood River Valley vineyard, Alaina could only dream that she would one day be turning grapes into wine. In 2013, after graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in Enology and Viticulture, that dream of becoming a winemaker became reality. Alaina joined the Naked team in February 2014. She oversees winemaking in our Hood River winery and always finds new ways to improve our reserve wines and develop new wine club exclusive blends. Recently, her 2016 Orgasmic Sangiovese was awarded 92 points and won a Gold Medal in the San Francisco International Women’s Wine Competition. A Gold Medal is given to “An exceptional wine that is near the pinnacle of achievement in its category; sets the standard for all other wines of its type”. Over 1150 wines were submitted into the competition and to bring home a Gold medal is quite an impressive achievement. Congratulations to Alaina!

Other San Francisco International Women’s Wine Competition Accolades: SILVER MEDAL, Oh! Orgasmic 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon | SILVER MEDAL, Oh! Orgasmic 2016 Tempranillo | SILVER MEDAL, Oh! Orgasmic 2016 Albariño

TRACY THOMSEN
Winemaker /"Dungeon Master"

If If you'd asked him 20 years ago if he dreamed of making wine, Tracy may have answered ‘NO WAY’, followed by his signature and infectious laugh. He graduated from Universal Technical Institute in 1995 as an Auto/Diesel Mechanic and worked for several General Motors dealers in his career. In 2009, he moved to Hood River to live his passion for snow sports, teaching lessons at Mt Hood Meadows. How did Tracy wind up at Naked Winery? Back in 2010, his roommate asked him if he’d like to bottle some wine when someone called in sick on the bottling line. The rest is a story that will require a glass of wine and will undoubtedly include many hearty laughs. Tracy now oversees cellar operations in the Hood River Production Facility.
