We love Italian wine. It’s true and we think you must as well as our two Pinot Grigios continue to be our best selling white wines and we have trouble keeping the Diva Sangiovese on the shelf. Sangiovese is the primary grape used in Chianti blends that made Tuscany famous. Expanding our horizons to the Piedmont region of Italy in 2007 we expanded our portfolio of Italian varietals to include Nebbiolo and Barbera which are now happily aging in oak barrels. You may know Nebbiolo by one of these popular names you see on Italian wines: Barolo, Barbaresco or Gattinara whereas Barbera almost always has it’s name on the Italian wine label. While we’ll have to wait a few years before they are ready to release, if things go according to our plans you should be able to barrel sample some in our Hood River tasting room this fall. Until then you can drop by anytime and sample our Pinot Grigios (Naked - fruity and tart; Escort - blanched almonds with a clean, crisp mineral finish) and our Sangiovese (dried Strawberries with milk chocolate on the palate). |
